You then use your next ship in reserve to attack that same bug, rescuing your captured craft, and watch triumphantly as it joins together with your active fighter to create a double-barreled blaster of alien-wasting justice. Even the most casual of Galaga fans knows the old trick – you let the bug with the tractor beam swoop down, then purposefully allow it to steal away one of your fighters. I would love a Q*Bert machine, but with the diagonal controls, it'll be hard to pair with anything other than the Q*Bert sequel, so it's not likely either. You can get a triple ship. Then I think I'm done for a while, the only other unit I would get day 1 would be a Donkey Kong machine, but don't think that licensing is likely to come through. Tron won't show up until mid-December assuming the pre-order date holds up, but I'm keeping an eye out for the Ms Pac Man 40th anniversary edition at Walmart, so that may be my next machine. When I get my 4th and 5th units, it may become a little bit of an eye sore though, so at some point, I may have to relegate them to the basement. Probably breaks all feng shui rules, but I like that I have easy access to play a few games. These machines are on my first level in my house, in an open space between my kitchen and my family room. But, after that touch of lube, the trackball works perfectly again, so I'm happy. I did fill out a warranty request on the Arcade1Up page and they sent me a new trackball, but I'll keep that in storage for now. Had to pry off the trackball control box from the controller board, pop off its cover, then using a q-tip, I rubbed a little lubricant on the gears of the rollers that the trackball sits on. My trackball on the Atari unit started getting sticky when scrolling left and right, and after checking with an Arcade1Up facebook group, found that it's a common problem, and has an easy fix.
#Galaxian vs galaga series#
I did play a few games of Ghosts N Goblins on the new unit and it's at least as hard as I remember that series was back in the day. I need to create a cheat sheet for the special moves for MK2 and SF2 so I can regain the skills that I had back in the early 90s. I'm still having a hard time with the controls for Asteroids and Defender, but I'll work on that. Still couldn't pull the trigger on the MvC though.Ĭentipede is my favorite of the 36 games across the 3 units, then in order Joust, Rootbeer Tapper, Missile Command and Tempest are getting the most play. I put in my dad's info and they gave me the coupon, so I used it on the Street Fighter Capcom Legacy cabinet. Right now they have a 10% off Veteran's (and their families) coupon that works. Target has 5% off with their Target card, but their recent 10% electronics coupons worked on it too.
#Galaxian vs galaga tv#
I could get him a 40” tv, his own Switch, a tv stand and several games for that much.If you are talking about the Marvel vs Capcom cabinet, it's $549, but includes the stool which is $90 separately, so in line with their current pricing. The craziest one to me is the new TMNT cabinet, which has the same games as the original, but has different art printed on it and now has doubled in price. Anything my youngest would like looks to be in the neighborhood of $700 now, which is way more than we’re willing to spend.

If I recall correctly, the marvel cabinet was $300 and we got it on sale at Walmart for $250. We got my oldest son the Marvel cabinet for Christmas two years ago and our youngest has been asking for one ‘with superheroes’ for this Christmas for months.
